Singapore: A Fantastic City

People overseas deem Singapore as a driveling city, filled with people whose sole purpose in life is to work ten hours a day in the office. Worse still, many people overseas do not even know about the existence of a country called Singapore! Yet, this is forgivable. I am very much assured that the majority of the people in Singapore do not even know the existence of this country called Namibia. What do I have to say?

The cosmopolitan city of Singapore, contrary to popular beliefs, is an exuberant city. The people here live with an unrestrained enthusiasm, for want of better lives for them and their kin. White-collar workers working till midnight just to earn that bonus, or even students mugging for the 'O' levels; the "work hard" attitude is everywhere.

Despite the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore, one would have no difficulties trying to find a peaceful place to loosen up. Parks are everywhere in Singapore. Lush greeneries, extraordinary views and beaches. One would instantaneously fall in love with the peace and quiet, engulfed in the beauties of Nature. Speaking of nature, one would never fail to see trees lining the sidewalks of Singapore. A clean and green environment indeed.

On the other hand, Singapore is a place where diverse cultures converge to form something entirely unique. Here, it a common for one to see people of many different races mixing around; something hard to find in certain countries. Credits go to the government for promoting racial harmony and social cohesion among the people while the country was still developing.

Singapore had over 17.4 million tourists in the year 2005, a staggering number for a country so small. What makes tourists love Singapore so much? Some say Orchard Road, some say City Hall, but the fact is that tourists just love the food here. Am I right? Delightful cuisines of all kinds can be found here in Singapore, regardless of whether it is Indian, Chinese, Malay, Western, Thai or Japanese food. One would have no problems finding the kind of food that they like. Food from the hawker centres do not lose out much to the so-called "high-class" hotel food, and these delicacies costs merely a few dollars at most. What more could one ask for?

Another thing that is unique to Singapore is the transport system. It is convenient for one to go to anywhere in Singapore, it being such a small country with such an efficient transport system. Everywhere you go in Singapore, bus-stops and MRT stations are always a common sight. If one is in a hurry, taxis are always available for hire, and one would reach the intended destination in the span of half an hour at most.

Indeed, Singapore is a fantastic city, is it not?
